Shabir Ahluwalia: I feel we give love too much importance, like it is the centre of our lives

Shabir Ahluwalia, currently seen in Ufff...Yeh Love Hai Mushkil, is playing a character who’s navigating love through chaos and comedy. But when it comes to his personal views on love in today’s fast-paced, dating-app-driven world, the actor has a refreshingly grounded take.On love in today’s times, he says, “I just feel we give love too much importance, like it is the centre of our lives when it’s not. For Yug, love is chaos and sorrow. For me, love happens organically. If you like someone, whether it’s your friend, family, kids or partner, that’s love. It isn’t about duties or sacrifices. You don’t need to show it; those are things you naturally do for the people you love. So, it comes very organically.

”Defining love in his own words, he adds, “Jiske saath rehne mein maza aata hai na, usko love kehte hain. Jiske saath kuch bhi na karo aur din guzar jaaye, usko love kehte hain. I think love is not something to be taken too seriously. It’s organic.”

Shabir has been married to actress Kanchi Kaul since November 27, 2011. The couple shares two sons: Azai, born in 2014, and Ivarr, born in 2016. Their equation has stood the test of time.

I am no one to judge when someone feels attracted to another person. To each their own. But for me, being on set is about working, having fun as colleagues, and that’s about it.”
