Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has been selected for the P. Kesavadev Literary Award 2025 along with diabetologist Banshi Saboo, for the P. Kesavadev Diabscreen Kerala Award.
Presented by the P. Kesavadev Trust annually in memory of the late writer, the awards for 2025 recognise contributions to literature and public health education.
Mr. Tharoor was selected by a panel headed by writer George Onakkoor. He won the award for his “outstanding literary contributions that explore India’s past and present with insight and critical analysis,” according to the Trust.
Banshi Saboo
Dr. Saboo, selected by a panel chaired by Balagopal P .G., won the award “for his lifelong commitment to improving diabetes awareness and care,” according to the Trust.
The awards include a cash prize of ₹50,000, a sculpted artwork by B.D. Dathan, and a certificate of recognition. The awards will be presented during the P. Kesavadev memorial ceremony on July 27 at Hotel Hilton in Thiruvananthapuram.
