A Sub-Inspector of Police posted at Mamada police station in Nirmal district was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000.

The accused officer, identified as T. Ashok, was trapped by the ACB’s Adilabad unit on March 23 after he demanded money from a complainant in exchange for not registering a case against him. The transaction took place at the SI quarters located behind the police station, where the officer accepted the bribe.

The tainted cash was recovered from his possession. He was arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Karimnagar. Further investigation is underway and the identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.

The ACB has reiterated its appeal to the public to report any instances of bribery by public servants through its toll-free helpline 1064 or via its official social media platforms, assuring confidentiality to complainants.
