Patna: Patna GRP on Sunday arrested six people in connection with the violence, stone-pelting and disruption of train services at Patliputra railway station.The GRP said the six were directly involved in rioting and stone-pelting.
“Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other persons involved in the violence using available evidence and surveillance footage,” officials said in a statement.An FIR has been registered and the investigation is underway. Police said strict action would be taken against those responsible for attacking security personnel, damaging public property and disrupting railway operations.Presenting the railway administration’s version, East Central Railway CPRO Saraswati Chandra said adequate arrangements had been made for candidates.“Large numbers of students gathered at Patliputra railway station after 11.30pm to travel towards Katihar and other destinations for the examination. Many had already boarded the Seemanchal Express, and there was sufficient space available on the train. Despite this, some people created a disturbance,” he said.Chandra said a special train was stationed at Patliputra at around 2.30am and repeated announcements were made for candidates to board it.“The disruption was not caused by train delays,” he said.
