Revenue Minister K. Rajan has said that village offices across the State are being transformed into knowledge centres equipped with modern facilities.
He was speaking after inaugurating the State-level launch of the construction of smart village offices here on Saturday.
As part of the initiative, the Minister inaugurated the construction of 44 village offices across the State, including the Kanimangalam village office in the district. He noted that nearly 700 smart village offices with modern amenities are already functioning in Kerala.
Highlighting the slogan “Land for all, records for every land, and smart services for all,” the Minister said the transformation in the Revenue department reflects the government’s reform-oriented approach. He added that Pattaya (land title) Mission was introduced during the tenure of the present government, and that Pattaya Assemblies — which enable direct public participation — have helped resolve long-pending land title issues.
Describing the digital resurvey as one of the largest initiatives in Kerala’s history, the Minister said the State was the first in the country to implement comprehensive digitisation of land records. As part of a pilot phase, solar rooftop systems will soon be installed in 18 village offices in the Ollur constituency. Digital kiosks will also be set up in village offices to enable the public to directly access certificates and related documents.
The function was presided over by District Collector Arjun Pandian.
