Soldier dies by suicide inside Army camp in Jammu’s Nagrota (Representative Image)
JAMMU: A soldier allegedly died by suicide inside an Army camp in Jammu's Nagrota area on Monday morning, officials said.The deceased was identified as Lance Naik Abhijeet Nandan, accoridn to news agency PTI. According to officials, he was found hanging in his room at the Nagrota military camp on the outskirts of Jammu.A police team reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and shifted the body to a hospital for postmortem examination.Officials said the reason behind the alleged suicide was not immediately known. Earlier this year, in January, an Agniveer soldier allegedly died by suicide at the Ambala Cantonment area in Haryana.The deceased was identified as 23-year-old Moin Khan, a resident of Ghaziabad. According to police, he allegedly took the extreme step while stationed at the cantonment.Officials said Moin's fellow soldiers found him hanging from the ceiling when they arrived at the office. Senior Army officers and the police were immediately informed about the incident.He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The police took custody of the body and sent it to the local civil hospital for a post-mortem examination.Ambala Cantt Police Post in-charge Sukhbir Singh said that Moin Khan was recruited under the Agniveer scheme in 2022.A police official said the exact reasons for the suicide has not yet been ascertained.The police are investigating the case, SHO Ambala Cantt, Inspector Surender said.Police said the deceased's family has been informed about the incident.
