Basketball families have shaped the NBA for decades, but a few match the influence of the Curry household. During a recent appearance on The Athletic Show, Stephen Curry and his father, Dell Curry, joined a wide conversation about careers, records, and the growing list of families with multiple NBA players.
The discussion soon turned toward another well-known name in the league, LeBron James, and his son, Bronny James. The topic began as a light exchange about career scoring numbers across NBA families. Host Marcus Thompson pointed out the point totals between the two households. That playful debate produced an unexpected answer from Dell Curry. The former sharpshooter responded with a clear stance on which basketball family holds the edge.

Dell Curry responded by pointing out that the Curry household includes more contributors.Stephen Curry and his brother Seth Curry both built long NBA careers. When their father’s scoring numbers join the total, the combined points exceed the James family’s tally.
During the discussion, Thompson pushed Dell Curry to clarify whether he truly believed his family stood above the James household in basketball terms. Dell answered without hesitation.“Yes, I am … Absolutely. That’s what we are here for. Somebody’s got to say it,” Dell told Thompson.
