AHMEDABAD/VADODARA: A family trip to the UK for a baby shower ended in tragedy for Yasmin Vora, 51, her nephew Pervez Vora, 30, and his 4-year-old daughter, Zuveriya. "Yasmin was originally to fly on June 9 but extended her ticket to the 12th to travel with Pervez and Zuveriya, who were from Thasra," said Yasin, Yasmin's husband, from Vadodara.

Yasmin's two sons, settled in London, were expecting children, and she had planned a 6-month stay for their baby showers.Yasin dropped her off at the airport. "Just before takeoff, Yasmin called me, expressing anxiety about the non-functioning AC and a strange feeling. I reassured her the AC would start working," he said.Soon after, as Yasin was about 50km from Ahmedabad, he got a devastating call from relatives that the London-bound flight had crashed.By 3pm, the loss was confirmed. "I drove back to the hospital and the young doctors injured at the hostel were being brought in," said Yasin.
