Son Arrested for Father's Murder in Deoghar Over Financial Dispute

Dumka: A resident of Shimla Manjhidih village in Deoghar district was arrested on Thursday on charges of beating his septuagenarian father to death over a financial disagreement a day earlier, police said.The deceased was identified as 70-year-old Mulind Hembrom, police added.The ASI of Chitra police station, Shetlal Barla, said, “Mulind had been engaged in a long-standing dispute with his son, Lukhiram Hembrom (42), over money-related issues. An argument broke out between them on Wednesday night which soon escalated into a violent confrontation. In a fit of rage, Lukhiram allegedly assaulted his father, leaving him critically injured.

Family members and villagers rushed the injured man to Sarath community health centre (CHC).

Doctors declared him dead upon arrival.”“The accused son has been arrested. He has confessed to the crime. Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident stemmed from a family dispute, though all aspects of the incident are being thoroughly probed,” the ASI added.
