A first-year law student was gangraped by an alumnus and two of her seniors last week, leading to the arrests of four people.

The South Calcutta Law College, which was marred by the controversy following the gangrape of a first-year student on campus, was shut indefinitely on Monday, officials said.

The classes for all students have been suspended for an indefinite period, they added.

“All BA LLB and LLM (General and Honours) classes of South Calcutta Law College will be suspended and the college premises will remain closed for all students until further notice as decided by the Governing Body," a notification by the college read, news agency PTI reported.
