The Department of Posts released a special cover highlighting the contribution of NLC India Limited to nation building and sustainable energy development on the occasion of the 70th Raising Day, marking the platinum jubilee of the company.
Sayeed Rashid, Postmaster General, Southern Region (holding additional charge of Central Region), released the special cover with the theme “70 years of Energizing the Nation with Sustainability” in the presence of NLCIL Chairman and Managing Director Prasanna Kumar Motupalli on Wednesday.
Addressing staff, Mr. Motupalli highlighted NLCIL’s remarkable 70-year journey of progress, attributing its sustained success to the dedication of past employees and visionary leadership. He thanked the Centre and the Tamil Nadu government for facilitating the establishment and growth of the company from mining operations to becoming a national integrated energy company.
NLCIL has grown from ₹9,000 crore to more than ₹50,000 crore market capitalisation, from a small-cap company to mid-cap company riding high on investor confidence resulting from ambitious targets, he said.
The CMD said that NLCIL had set targets for doubling the mining production, tripling the thermal power generation, and increasing solar power generation seven fold, and a CAPEX of ₹1.25 lakh crore, all of which required concerted efforts.
Awards were distributed under ‘Reward and Recognition’ scheme in various categories like productivity excellence, efficiency, overall performance and safety for industrial and service units. NLCIL Functional Directors and senior officials were present.
