Speeding auto overturns, four killed

Four persons were killed when a speeding overcrowded auto travelling from Palakonda to Sithampet of Parvathipuram -Manyam district overturned on Thursday. The deceased were identified as auto driver Ramana and passengers Sravani, Shanti and Lakshmi. All belonged to Sithampet mandal in the district.

As many as 10 others travelling in the auto received multiple injuries, and were admitted to the hospital for treatment. The auto overturned on the ghat road of the Agency area due to overcrowding of passengers. Many people travelling this route are forced to travel in overcrowded vehicles as public transport— buses and autos are not easily available. Additionally, due to the many curves and bad road conditions, accidents take place here frequently. Police personnel have sent the bodies to the Palakonda Area Hospital for postmortem.
