Sri Sathya Sai District Collector A. Shyam Prasad flagged off the HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) mobile testing vehicle, sponsored by the State AIDS Control programme, to expand access to screening and awareness services in remote areas, at the Collectorate here on Thursday.

Addressing the medical and paramedical staff, the Collector said the initiative would ensure that people unable to travel to hospitals due to distance or poor transportation receive free HIV testing closer to their villages. He directed health officials to prioritise visits to areas with high-risk populations and industrial establishments employing migrant and vulnerable workers.

In addition to conducting free HIV tests, the mobile unit staff will educate residents about prevention, early detection, treatment options, and measures to reduce the risk of transmission. Medical and Health department officials said that the new initiative would encourage timely diagnosis and improve public awareness across the district.
