‘Strangling Autistic Son’ Video, Love Affair, Depression: The Murky Case Of UP Cop’s Wife’s Suicide

The video shows ASP Mukesh Pratap Singh’s late wife, Nitesh Singh, trying to hurt her disabled son just one day before she took her own life.

Nitesh Singh, wife of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mukesh Pratap Singh, was found hanging in her home at the Police Lines Transit Hostel in Lucknow earlier this week. At first, her family accused the officer of mistreating her and having an extramarital relationship. But new CCTV footage has brought a shocking twist to the case.

The video shows ASP’s late wife trying to hurt her disabled son just one day before she took her own life. In the footage, she can be seen attempting to suffocate her son.

Shocking Footage

The disturbing act was caught on a CCTV camera installed inside the house. In the video, Nitesh is putting a pillow over her autistic son, Aniket’s face in an attempt to suffocate him. The child starts struggling. After taking the pillow away, she then tries using both hands to choke him. Despite his condition, Aniket manages to escape her grip. What makes the video even more heartbreaking is that Nitesh and Mukesh’s younger son can be seen playing nearby, unaware of the situation.

According to NDTV, when Mukesh Pratap Singh first saw the CCTV footage showing his wife trying to harm their son, he spoke about it with Nitesh Singh. It led to a heated argument between the two. The very next evening, Nitesh was found dead in their home.

Family’s Accusation

While the woman’s family has accused the ASP of harassment, the police are now closely looking into the CCTV footage to understand what led to her tragic death. Investigators are using the clip to study her mental condition and the series of events that happened before she died by suicide. Police sources also shared that Nitesh was dealing with some health-related problems, which could have pushed her to take such an extreme step.

As per Amar Ujala reports, DCP Central Ashish Kumar Srivastava shared that Mukesh Pratap Singh was leaving for duty in Varanasi for two days. Before leaving, he had called her late wife’s father to stay with her. When her father arrived, he found Nitesh already dead. After the required paperwork was completed, her brother Pramod Kumar, who is the former district panchayat president of Firozabad, took her body to their hometown. The family later performed the last rites in Firozabad.
