The observation and study of the Zero Shadow Day phenomenon was among the highlights of a two-day Summer Science Camp that began at the Government College, Attingal, on Saturday.
Shabnam Iyyani, a faculty member at the Indian Institute for Science Education and Research - Thiruvananthapuram (IISER Thiruvananthapuram), explained the scientific principles behind the event which occurs when the sun is positioned exactly overhead at noon, causing vertical objects to cast no shadow. Through guided experiments and outdoor observation, students actively participated in measuring and verifying the phenomenon, making it a hands-on learning experience.
