The cabinet secretariat has asked officials from across ministries to attend the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026 and follow this up by submitting brief notes on their experience and observations, which will then be compiled by the respective secretaries.
The office memorandum was issued on Monday, directing all officers at and above the level of deputy secretary in ministries and departments to visit the summit that was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam.
According to the memorandum, officers are required to observe artificial intelligence-based innovations, use cases showcased at the event, and identify applications relevant to their ministries, departments, and organisations. Each officer must submit a brief note, not exceeding two pages, highlighting significant ideas and potential departmental use cases, it stated.
The memorandum stated that secretaries of the ministries and departments will compile these submissions and forward a consolidated report to the cabinet secretariat by February 27, a week after the summit ends on February 20. It stressed on strict adherence to these instructions.
With this landmark summit, the Centre is pitching AI as a key enabler of India’s development journey, strengthening governance and transforming public service delivery in alignment with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. It also aligns with India’s commitment to responsible and inclusive AI.
“The summit, the first global AI gathering to be hosted in the Global South, has witnessed unprecedented participation with over 20 heads of state, 60 ministers, and 500 global AI leaders. Bringing together policymakers, technology companies, innovators, academia, and industry leaders, the summit seeks to translate global AI deliberations into actionable development outcomes under the IndiaAI Mission and the Digital India initiative," stated an official government release.
On February 19, Modi is scheduled to deliver the inaugural address setting the tone for enhanced global cooperation and advancing India’s vision for inclusive, trusted, and development-oriented AI.
