Director Sudha Kongara has filed a legal case against the makers of her latest movie 'Parasakthi' for not paying her the full salary as per the agreement. The director filed a case in the Madras High Court stating that the production company still owes Rs 8.39 crore despite several demands.
This has become one of the most burning issues in the Tamil film industry recently.
Madras High Court hears plea, pauses 'Parasakthi' satellite deal
As reported by Bar and Bench, Sudha Kongara's petition alleges that the production company failed to clear her contractual payment despite several follow-ups, leaving her with no option but to seek legal relief. Hearing the matter, the Madras High Court directed that no satellite release-related transactions or agreements connected to 'Parasakthi' should be carried out until July 8.
The interim direction will remain in force until the court hears the matter further, making this the biggest development in the ongoing dispute.
Director also seeks a ban against the release of ' Idhayam Murali '
Sudha Kongara has also sought legal intervention regarding another project backed by the same production banner, 'Idhayam Murali.' In her plea, she has requested the court to restrain the film's scheduled theatrical release on July 10 until her pending remuneration is settled.
The director has argued that the producers should not be allowed to proceed with the release of another film while her contractual dues remain unpaid.
Industry awaits July 8 hearing in high-profile case
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for July 8, and the outcome is expected to play a key role in deciding the future of 'Idhayam Murali.' The court's verdict will determine whether the ban imposed on the satellite rights remains in effect and whether further orders are given concerning the film's imminent release.
In view of this legal fight, the case has attracted much discussion throughout the Kollywood industry.
