Indian para badminton star Sukant Kadam has achieved the prestigious World No. 1 ranking in the SL4 category, marking a significant milestone as he reaches the summit of the global rankings for the first time. This accomplishment is a testament to his relentless dedication and consistent top-tier performances in international competitions over recent years.

Sukant’s ascent to the top is supported by a series of remarkable performances, including multiple medals at the World Para Badminton Championships and the Asian Para Games. Recently, he secured the gold medal at the Spanish Para-Badminton International 2025, further enhancing his confidence and world ranking.

Looking ahead, Sukant is preparing for the upcoming China Para Badminton International 2025, aiming for another strong performance to maintain his World No. 1 status and gain invaluable experience for future major events. His ambition extends to the 2026 Asian Games, where he hopes to bring home gold and elevate India’s standing in para badminton.

What Sukant Kadam Said?

Reflecting on his journey and future goals, Sukant Kadam said that reaching World No. 1 is a dream come true and motivates him to push harder in his training every day.

“Reaching World No. 1 is a dream come true, and it motivates me to push harder in my training every day. China Para Badminton International 2025 is a great opportunity to test myself against the best, and I am focused on maintaining this form to perform my best at the Asian Games next year," Sukant Kadam said.

“I want to keep making India proud and inspire the next generation of para athletes. I want to sincerely thank my coaches, Nikhil Kanetkar and Mayank Gole, for their continuous support and guidance, and the entire team for standing with me throughout this journey," he added.

In July, Sukant competed in the Men’s Singles SL4 category at the British and Irish Para Badminton International 2025 and displayed a commanding run to the final. He defeated fellow Indian Naveen Sivakumar in straight sets (21-14, 21-19) in the semi-final. In the final, Sukant faced Paralympic Champion Lucas Mazur of France, fought valiantly, and settled for silver with the match ending 6-21, 14-21.
