Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai on Thursday stopped by to have a cup of coffee at the Bharat GI Coffee Lounge set up by Commerce Ministry at the India AI Impact Summit in Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal shared the video of Pichai on his X handle and said that the world is raising a cup to Bharat GI Coffee at the AI Summit.

“When @SundarPichai drops by for a sip, you know it’s truly worth it! The world is raising a cup to Bharat GI Coffee at #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026," Goyal said in a post on X.

In another video shared by Bharat GI on X, Pichai can be heard saying ‘wow’ after he tastes the ‘monsoon malabar’ coffee.

The lounge is part of the newly launched ‘Bharat GI’ initiative — a national umbrella intellectual property brand introduced by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to promote India’s Geographical Indication (GI) products globally. Positioned as “A World Exclusive," the initiative aims to give Indian GI products international recognition and premium positioning.

The Coffee Board’s activities are broadly aimed at enhancing production, productivity, quality and exports of Indian coffee, with GI-tagged varieties now being showcased to a global audience at the summit.

Pichai, who is participating in the summit, described artificial intelligence as ushering in an era of “hyper progress," with the potential to unlock new scientific discoveries and help emerging economies leapfrog traditional development stages.

The India AI Impact Summit — billed as the world’s largest AI gathering — began on Monday and has drawn tech leaders, policymakers, founders and global delegates. India is using the platform to push for wider access to AI technologies and promote inclusive innovation.

Alongside the summit, the India AI Impact Expo 2026 is being held from February 16–21 at Bharat Mandapam. Spread across 10 arenas and over 70,000 square metres, the expo features more than 300 exhibition pavilions, 13 country delegations, and over 600 startups demonstrating AI-driven solutions.

With over 500 sessions and more than 3,000 speakers scheduled, the event aims to advance global cooperation on AI governance, safety and equitable technological progress — while also offering visitors a taste of India’s finest GI coffee.
