Anand Kumar, founder of Super 30, on Tuesday called for stricter regulation of coaching institutes and stronger safeguards in the examination system after NEET-UG 2026 was cancelled over an alleged paper leak. Kumar said repeated controversies surrounding competitive exams severely affect students’ morale.

Earlier in the day, the National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled NEET-UG 2026, nine days after the exam was held on May 3. Fresh dates for the re-examination will be announced within seven to 10 days, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh confirmed. Nearly 22 lakh candidates had appeared for the medical entrance test this year.

Super 30 Founder Calls NEET Paper Leak Incident ‘Very Unfortunate’

Calling the development “very unfortunate," Kumar told Aaj Tak TV, “This is a very unfortunate thing. Students lose morale every time something like this happens."

However, he also pointed out that investigators had identified and arrested the accused linked to the alleged malpractice. “The good thing is that the accused have been caught. I would advise students to stay strong and remain optimistic that they have got another chance," he said.

Nitin Vijay, founder of Motion Education, also urged students and parents not to panic over the cancellation. “Please don’t panic, don’t be disheartened. Students and parents should calm down," he told India Today TV.

Kumar further stressed the need for tougher oversight of coaching institutes, especially amid investigations by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) into a possible coaching centre link in the alleged paper leak. “It’s important to tighten the noose on coaching centres. There should be strict implementation of rules. The government must ensure tough measures like China," he said.

What Steps Has China Taken To Tighten Exam Security?

Referring to China’s examination reforms, Kumar highlighted Beijing’s strict anti-cheating measures in recent years.

China introduced the “Double Reduction" policy in 2021 under President Xi Jinping to reduce academic pressure and curb commercialisation in education. The policy banned for-profit tutoring in core subjects and imposed strict restrictions on private coaching.

Chinese authorities have also strengthened exam security through advanced anti-cheating technology, tighter monitoring at examination centres, secure handling of question papers, and stricter scrutiny during admissions to prevent fraud and irregularities.
