Survivor in actor rape case meets CM

The survivor in the 2017 actor abduction and rape case met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Cliff House, the CM’s official resident, on Tuesday. In the hour-long meeting, Mr.Vijayan is learnt to have assured the State government’s continued support in the case. The meeting comes two days after the survivor made a scathing social media post, signalling profound disenchantment with the trial court’s verdict last week, in which actor Dileep, the eighth accused and the alleged mastermind, was acquitted. In the post, she had made clear the reasons due to which she lost faith in the trial court, including the alleged illegal access and tampering of the memory card. Earlier in the day, the survivor had also participated in the Christmas- New Year feast hosted by the Chief Minister. Political and religious leaders as well as cultural figures took part in the feast.
