Premier League side Nottingham were shown the exit door from the League Cup by Swansea as the second-tier unit posted a 3-2 triumph over Ange Postecoglou and Co. in dramatic fashion.
Igor Jesus netted twice for Nottingham, but the Swans rallied with two stoppage time strikes thanks to Cameron Burgess and Zan Vipotnik.
Postecoglou expressed his disappointment as his Nottingham Forest players became too “comfortable" after conceding twice in stoppage time, resulting in a 3-2 defeat to second-tier Swansea in the League Cup.
In only his second match in charge, Postecoglou watched in dismay as his team squandered a two-goal lead from halftime, thanks to Igor Jesus’ double.
Forest missed numerous chances to widen their lead after Cameron Burgess’ goal, which revived Swansea’s hopes in the second half.
Zan Vipotnik equalised in added time before Burgess scored his second goal, securing Swansea’s spot in the last 16.
“I think the lads got a bit comfortable at that moment and needed to recognize the warning signs," said former Tottenham manager Postecoglou.
“We had to finish them off, and we had plenty of opportunities to do that. A couple of decisions didn’t go our way.
“Players assumed it would naturally finish that way, and we’ve paid a heavy price for that. We need to improve."
