Take up work on delimitation of wards in urban local bodies as per 2011 census: Mandya DC

With the tenure of urban local bodies of Mandya nearing completion, Mandya Deputy Commsisioner Kumar has asked officials to take up work on the delimitation of wards as per the 2011 census.

Presiding over a meeting of Urban Development Department officials on Monday, Dr. Kumar directed the officials to demarcate the boundaries of the wards of the urban local bodies as per the relevant notification issued in this regard.

The tenure of municipalities of Maddur, Malavalli, and Pandavapura will end on October 23; K.R. Pet on October 31; Bellur Town Panchayat on November 4; Nagamangala and Srirangapatna municipalities on November 5 and 6 respectively; while the term of Mandya City Municipal Council will conclude on November 2.

Before finalising ward-wise reservations, Dr. Kumar asked the officials to identify and fix their boundaries. If there are any objections from the public, the same may be heard before making a final decision.

The draft notification indicating the ward-wise boundaries had been issued by the respective urban local bodies and any objections in this regard can be submitted to the authorities concerned withing 15 days.

Referring to the Maddur municipality that had been upgraded from the earlier Town Municipal Council to a City Municipal Council (CMC) with the merger of nine villages and four gram panchayats, Dr. Kumar instructed the officials to draw up the jurisdiction of the CMC so that the newly merged villages were included in it.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Urban Development Cell officer T.N. Narasimhamurthy, Mandya City Municipal Commissioner Pampa Shri, Executive Engineer Pratap, Assistant Executive Engineer Ravikumar. and nodal officer Sowmya.
