Tamanna Malik, a burqa-clad Muslim woman, completed a 170-km kanwar yatra to Haridwar, performing jalabhishek at Kshem Nath Temple in Sambhal on Mahashivratri.

Tamanna Malik returned to her home in Sambhal after an over 170-km kanwar yatra to Haridwar.
A burqa-clad Muslim woman was welcomed in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal with chants of “Har Har Mahadev" as she returned to her home from an over 170-km Kanwar Yatra to Haridwar with the Gangajal. She performed the ‘jalabhishek’ on Mahashivratri by offering the sacred Ganga jal to Lord Shiva at the Kshem Nath Temple in Sambhal.
The woman, Tamanna Malik, is a native of Badanpur Basai village. She had married Aman Tyagi, a Hindu from the same village, three and a half years ago, and the ‘jalabhishek’ she did on Sunday was to fulfil a vow that she had taken three years ago.
As her marriage was interfaith, Malik vowed that she would do a ‘jalabhishek’ if she married Tyagi. The couple now has two sons from the marriage, Aryan and Daksh, aged two and one.

After eloping and getting married, the couple returned to the village a year ago. Reflecting on the support they received, Malik said, “My husband has been incredibly supportive, and we were welcomed warmly with flowers at several places. Many people from the Sanatan Dharma community supported us, and those who opposed are few and should be ignored."
Addressing questions about her attire, she added, “I have always worn a burqa, so I don’t see why it should be an issue now." Malik, accompanied by her husband, embarked on the Yatra to Haridwar on February 10 and returned the next day.
Aman Tyagi expressed gratitude for the support they received along the way, mentioning that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and other Sanatani people greatly assisted them during the pilgrimage. He noted that many individuals from Amroha and Noorpur also joined them on their journey.
