Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, his cabinet colleagues and several senior political leaders were sworn in as Members of the Legislative Assembly at Chennai Secretariat on Monday. The oath-taking ceremony began at 9.30 am, with Pro-Tem Speaker M V Karuppaiah presiding over the proceedings and administering the oath of office to the members. He opened the session with a brief introduction before calling the MLAs to take their oaths.

Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay was the first to be sworn in as an MLA, followed by nine ministers, including N Anand and Aadhav Arjuna, who also took their oaths as legislators.

Subsequently, DMK legislature party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, former Chief Ministers and AIADMK leaders Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam, along with AIADMK members such as Agri Krishnamurthy and K P Anbalagan, were among those who took the oath as MLAs.

Officials said the ceremony completed the formal induction of newly elected members into the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

Addressing supporters at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, he said his government would mark a fresh political era, promising to “repay the debt" of public trust after leaving his film career behind and describing himself as a representative of ordinary families rather than a political dynasty.

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam achieved historic win in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, as it emerged as single largest party in the assembly, winning 108 seats. Meanwhile, TVK was ten short of majority mark 118, it received support from other parties including Congress, VCK, Left parties and IUML.
