Tamil Nadu Girl Assaulted, Raped By Suspect; Fought And Helped Another Child To Escape

Police in Tiruvallur district have launched a search for an unidentified man accused of abducting and raping a schoolgirl near Gummidipoondi, along the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border, on July 12.

Despite being assaulted multiple times and raped by the suspect, the girl managed to escape and save another child who was approaching the same area.

According to police, the Class 4 student, who was living with her grandmother in a border village in Tamil Nadu, was returning home from school when she was forcibly taken to a mango grove by the suspect. Her parents reside in Andhra Pradesh.

The minor was walking alone along a path between two mango farms, where large trees stood spaced apart and the ground was strewn with dry leaves. The area is also known to have snakes, police said.

According to investigators, the suspect had arrived in the area by train and was loitering near the farms when he noticed the girl walking alone. He allegedly followed her, abducted her, and took her into one of the mango farms.

There, he reportedly assaulted her multiple times, bit her in several places, and sexually assaulted her. When the girl attempted to flee, the suspect allegedly dragged her back and assaulted her again.

After escaping from the clutches of the suspect, she returned home and informed her grandmother, who took her to the Government General Hospital in Ponneri.

She was later referred to the Government RSRM Lying-in Hospital in Royapuram for further treatment. Police are investigating, and efforts are on to trace the suspect.
