Three members of the security forces in Iraq's Kurdistan region were killed and 19 wounded during the arrest of an opposition leader on August 22. Heavily armed confrontations erupted in Sulaymaniyah between security forces and the loyalists of Lahur Sheikh Jangi, also known as Lahur Talabani. Meanwhile, The Iraqi Resistance Coordination Committee vowed to confront the US and urged protection of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). The committee said that although the US had repositioned its forces in what it considered safer locations and reduced their numbers in some bases, it had at the same time intensified drone and fighter jet flights over Iraq.. . .
