Taylor Alison Swift dropped her highly anticipated 'Opalite' music video on February 6, 2026, exclusively on certain streaming services, sending Swifties into a frenzy over its charming ’90s rom-com vibe and star-packed cast.
The third single from her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, features Taylor Alison Swift opposite Domhnall Gleeson in a whimsical tale of two lonely souls united by a magical Opalite spray, with cameos from their fellow Graham Norton Show guests Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi, and host Graham Norton himself, plus a voiceover by Cillian Murphy.
Video concept and cast
Taylor Alison Swift wrote and directed the film-shot video, channeling classic rom-com aesthetics with cinematography by Rodrigo Pietro.
Taylor Alison Swift plays a woman devoted to her pet rock, while Domhnall Gleeson portrays a man equally attached to his pet cactus; their paths cross through enchanted dates like dance competitions and mall outings. The idea sparked during an October 2025 episode of The Graham Norton Show, promoting The Life of a Showgirl.
Domhnall Gleeson jokingly said he wanted to star in one of Taylor Alison Swift’s videos, prompting her to send him the script within a week.
Taylor Nation announced the staggered rollout: “It will be available starting at 8 a.m. ET on 2/6 on Apple Music and Spotify and 8 am ET on 2/8.” Fans can access it now on those paid platforms’ apps and desktops, but YouTube waits until Super Bowl Sunday, February 8, at 8 a.m. ET, possibly tied to Billboard Hot 100 changes excluding YouTube views since January 16.
Taylor Swift’s BTS insights
Taylor Alison Swift shared a post-release Instagram carousel, writing, “It was an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters.”
The video reunites her Eras Tour backup dancers and nods to U.K. filming rumors from November 2025, which Taylor Alison Swift never confirmed. In her End of an Eras docuseries, she explained her secrecy: “It is so much extra work to keep things a surprise [for fans]. Let me tell ya, I need a nap just thinking about it.
But it’s so worth it when we can actually pull it off.”Watch Taylor Swift's Instagram post here
