The government, on Thursday, issued orders to amend the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (for professional courses offered in private unaided professional institutions) Rules 2006. The AFRC will consider a range of factors while prescribing and rationalising the fee structure.

Colleges which want their fee structure revised will now have to show their national and international ranking, display quality of education with a strong internal quality assurance system, and show whether the college is implementing best practices such as facial recognition attendance system and Aadhaar authenticated system of payments to prove its transparency and accountability of managements.

The amendment also stresses parameters such as promotion of research, innovation eco-system, start-ups, research publications, and awards; student support, progression in terms of attendance, academic performance and placements; and alignment with the perspective plan for technical education of the State government.

The five new parameters are in addition to the existing rules, as proposed by the Telangana Council of Higher Education.
