A 42-year-old man was allegedly killed by his wife in a shocking early-morning attack in Mandamarri town of Mancherial district, Telangana, police said on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Mohammed Moin, a resident of Shantinagar and a driver by profession, was found bleeding from multiple neck wounds around 5:30 am when neighbours heard screams and rushed to the scene.

Local residents immediately alerted the police and rushed him to a nearby hospital, but Moin succumbed to his injuries during treatment, officials said.

Police said Moin and his wife, Sukkala Avanthi, whom he had married in a love marriage about ten years ago, had been experiencing ongoing marital problems due to financial stress. The dispute reportedly revolved around a loan of ₹7 lakh that Moin had extended to Avanthi’s brother, and the victim allegedly harassed her daily over the unresolved amount, sometimes under the influence of alcohol.

During a heated argument on Tuesday morning, Avanthi allegedly attacked Moin with a knife, repeatedly stabbing him in the neck. She was found standing near his body when neighbours arrived and was taken into custody by the police.

Avanthi later confessed to the crime during questioning, according to authorities. The police have seized the blood-stained weapon and registered a case under the appropriate murder provisions. She is expected to be produced before a court for judicial remand.

The couple has two children, and further investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
