Telangana Pharma Factory Explosion Death Toll Rises To 34, Probe Panel Formed

The Telangana factory explosion death toll has risen to 34, and a five-member panel has been formed to investigate the suspected chemical reaction behind the explosion.

The death toll in the explosion at the Sigachi Industries’ pharma plant in Telangana’s Pashamylaram increased to 34 on Tuesday.

According to District Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj, multiple bodies were found under the debris while a search and rescue operation was underway at the explosion site.

“Several bodies have been found under the debris while removing it. As many as 31 bodies have been extricated from the debris, while three died in the hospital while undergoing treatment. The last leg of the rescue operation is still going on," Paritosh Pankaj told news agency PTI.

Meanwhile, a five-member panel was formed to probe the incident.

The committee was also tasked with recommending measures to prevent such incidents in the future, according to an official release.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy would visit the accident site on Tuesday, Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha said.

The fatal accident on Monday is suspected to have been caused by a chemical reaction.
