Hyderabad: Civil supplies commissioner Stephen Raveendra on Wednesday said 30 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy has been procured so far, and Rs 4,520 crore in MSP payments have been deposited directly into bank accounts of farmers.
Farmers are bringing in large quantities of both fine and coarse grain varieties. Of the total paddy procured, 9 lakh metric tonnes is fine variety and 21 lakh metric tonnes is coarse variety, he said.To address hamali shortages, manage paddy arrivals, and expedite purchases to protect the interests of the farmers, the state govt has issued orders enhancing the handling charges (hamali rates) for paddy at SWC godowns. The rates have been officially increased to Rs 17 per quintal. In another development for the state’s agricultural output, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) will procure 10 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of boiled rice for 2025–2026.
