Following the tragic deaths of six people and the hospitalization of over 40 due to adulterated toddy in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, the prohibition & excise department has suspended the SHO of Balanagar excise station.
HYDERABAD: At least 43 patients are still undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the city after consuming suspected adulterated toddy, with the condition of six of them critical.
Five patients were discharged from Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) on Saturday, while another 25 are still recuperating. "Eight patients are on dialysis, of them four are critical. The remaining 17 patients are clinically stable, and we are continuously monitoring them," a Nims doctor said.On the other hand, 18 patients were undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital, of them two were critical. "The remaining 16 are stable, and two among them might be discharged on Sunday," a doctor from Gandhi Hospital said.
The patients consumed alleged illicit toddy from depots in and around Kukatpally, after which they fell sick and were admitted to various hospitals across the city.
Meanwhile, task force teams of the excise department conducted raids at multiple toddy compounds in Balanagar, Moosapet, Kaithalapur, three depots in Musheerabad, and two in Kachiguda. An unlicensed toddy shop was sealed at Siddiq Nagar, and a case was registered against the owner .
