Telangana Tourism has announced a travel contest titled ‘100 Weekend Wonders of Telangana’ that invites travellers and content creators to discover and document the State’s lesser-known destinations. The initiative, launched on Wednesday, aims to build a map of short-break getaways that showcase authentic local experiences.
The contest encourages photography and travel enthusiasts to explore themes such as nature, wildlife, art and culture, heritage sites, water bodies, culinary trails, farm and rural stays, resorts, spiritual locations and adventure spots. Each entry must feature a unique destination in Telangana that is suitable for a weekend trip and easily accessible to visitors, said a release.
The first prize is set at ₹50,000, the second prize at ₹30,000, and the third prize at ₹20,000. In addition, 10 consolation prize winners will receive a complimentary two-day and one-night stay at select Haritha Hotels.
Participants are required to submit three photographs and one short video of up to 60 seconds that capture their chosen destination. Each entry must include connectivity information such as distance and transport options, a Google Maps link, and a 100-word description covering the best season to visit, stay options, budget considerations and safety aspects.
Entries will be accepted until January 5 and winners will be announced during the Sankranti Kite Festival in Hyderabad.
