Five districts of Telangana are forecast to receive heavy to very heavy rain on Saturday (September 13, 2025). And, 19 districts are predicted to receive heavy rainfall. 

Orange alert for five districts

India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its bulletin issued on Friday placed Nirmal, Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy under orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall.

A yellow alert for heavy Rainfall was issued for Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad and Mahabubnagar.

Hyderabad and surrounding areas

Hyderabad and its surrounding areas are very likely to receive moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers accompanied with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over the next 24 hours, according to the bulletin issued on Friday afternoon. 

From Friday 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., the highest rainfall across the State was 47 mm - recorded in Chandampet of Nalgonda. In Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the highest was only 6 mm in Saidabad. 

Highest of 221.5 mm on Thursday

From Thursday morning to Friday morning (8.30 a.m), the highest across the State was 221.5 mm - recorded in Huzurabad  of Karimnagar, followed by 217 mm in Mallampally of Mulugu and 215.4mm in Chigurumamidi of Karimnagar, according to Telangana Development Planning Society’s brief note issued on Friday morning.
