Temple bells stolen from centuries-old shrine in Satna

Bhopal: Thieves struck the centuries-old Siddheshwar Nath temple in Satna district, making away with two historic brass bells from the shrine, police said. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to arrest those responsible.The theft surfaced on Saturday evening when chief priest Chandrika Prasad Pandey and villagers arrived at the temple in Gobraon Kala village, under Uchehra police station limits, for evening prayers. They discovered that the brass bells installed at the Shiva and Parvati temples within the complex had been stolen. Police said each bell weighed about 11 kg.After being informed, Uchehra police reached the spot on Sunday morning, inspected the scene and initiated an investigation.

Police said unidentified persons have been booked and teams are working to identify those involved in the theft.The incident prompted local residents to demand early arrest of the accused and recovery of the stolen bells. They also urged police to use all available resources, including the dog squad and cyber cell, to crack the case at the earliest. Residents warned of protests if prompt action is not taken.
