Thar, gun, cash: Amravati sex scandal accused's luxury lifestyle under probe

The alleged sex exploitation case in Maharashtra’s Paratwada has taken a sharper turn, with investigators now probing the unexplained wealth and lifestyle of the main accused, Ayan Ahmad. Videos circulating on social media, purportedly showing him flaunting luxury cars, large amounts of cash and high-end gadgets, have added a fresh dimension to the ongoing investigation.

Ayan Ahmad, 19, is under investigation for sexually exploiting around 200 minors and circulating their obscene videos. The visuals that have surfaced online have now shifted attention to his financial sources and possible criminal links.

LUXURY CARS, CASH AND GADGETS UNDER SCANNER

In the viral videos and reels, the accused is seen driving high-end vehicles, holding what appears to be a firearm, and displaying multiple expensive smartphones, including iPhones. Other clips show him brandishing bundles of cash.

Investigators are examining how Ahmad financed such a lifestyle and whether the money may have come from illegal activities.

The accused also tried to project a fierce persona on social media. In one of the viral clips, he is heard saying, “He will definitely do something big because winning matters more to him than life.”

Police sources said the posts have drawn attention to his social circle and activities, with investigators looking into whether he had links beyond the individuals already identified in the case.

THAR SUV, FIREARM UNDER INVESTIGATION

A Mahindra Thar SUV allegedly used by the accused, bearing registration number MH-27-DL-3100, is under verification. Police are checking the ownership details of the vehicle and whether it was directly linked to Ahmad.

The firearm seen in the videos is also being examined to determine whether it was legally licensed or illegally possessed.

Investigators also identified a flat in the Katora Naka area of Amravati as an important location in the case. Located on the third floor of a residential building, the apartment was allegedly used to film and circulate obscene content.

Residents have described the flat as a “den of vice”, alleging that suspicious activity had continued there for months. According to neighbours, young men and women frequently visited the apartment late at night, often concealing their identities.

SCALE OF EXPLOITATION UNDER INVESTIGATION

While police have so far identified only a limited number of confirmed survivors, local claims suggest the scale of the case may be much larger, with allegations that many more girls were targeted and hundreds of videos recorded.

The case has been registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Information Technology Act. A Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe the matter.

EIGHT ARRESTED, DIGITAL EVIDENCE SEIZED

So far, eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. According to Amravati (Rural) Superintendent of Police Vishal Anand, the investigation began after obscene videos involving minor girls surfaced online on April 11. Ayan was arrested on April 13 and remanded in custody.

Police said Ayan allegedly shared the videos with an associate, who then circulated them further. Authorities have seized electronic devices, including a laptop, tablet, hard disk and multiple mobile phones, which have been sent for forensic analysis.

PROBE EXPANDS, MORE LINKS SUSPECTED

Officials said the investigation is now focused on tracing Ahmad’s financial trail, mapping his contacts and identifying any additional accomplices.

With new details emerging almost daily, investigators are trying to determine whether the case was confined to a small group or formed part of a wider racket. The immediate focus remains on establishing the source of Ahmad’s wealth and the full scope of the alleged operation.
