US President Donald Trump on Friday (local time) said his country still has 3,554 potential targets in Iran, indicating that military operations could move forward rapidly as tensions continue to escalate in West Asia.
Speaking at the Future Investment Initiative in Florida, Trump highlighted the scale of possible US action against Iran, even as diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict are underway. “We have another 3,554 targets left. That’ll be done pretty quickly. At some point, we’re going to have to determine what we do," Trump said.
He also referred to an incident involving the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, claiming that Iran had fired 101 missiles at the vessel. According to Trump, all of them were intercepted. “Out of the 101 missiles shot, 101 missiles were shot down and spread out all over the sea," he said.
Trump further claimed that Iran’s air defence network had been severely weakened during the confrontation. “They have no anti-aircraft, so we’re just floating over the top looking for whatever we want," he said.
Trump Pauses Strikes On Iran’s Energy Sites Till April 6
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the US President announced an extension of the pause on strikes targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure for another 10 days, until April 6, 2026, amid continuing diplomatic contacts between the two sides.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the decision followed a request from Tehran and expressed optimism about the ongoing negotiations. “As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time. Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well," the post read.
Earlier this week, Trump had already delayed potential strikes on Iranian power and energy facilities by five days, citing positive diplomatic engagement and “very good and productive conversations" with Tehran. Prior to that decision, he had warned Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours or face possible attacks on its energy sites, highlighting the shifting timelines as negotiations continue.
