The Hollywood Reporter recently posted a translated version of the essay on their page, further detailing how it has garnered a lot of attention. It was originally written for the magazine D2. In the essay, the director writes details about a teenager that he used to date when he was 27 years old.The essay read, “If a film made in 1979, in which Woody Allen’s 42-year-old character has a public relationship with a 17-year-old girl, is portrayed exclusively in a positive way and causes no controversy in its own time, then why shouldn’t my relationship — with a considerably smaller age difference — in 2012 be 'within bounds'? I chose to listen to Woody over my friends.”He talked about how, earlier, he had viewed the entire thing with skepticism; however, later on, he credited movies like ‘Lost In Translation’ for “completely” changing his viewpoint. The essay further details how Borgil and his girlfriend at the time would go to bars and pubs that did not check ID, and that he would often have to sneak out of her parents’ apartment. Borgil had shared in the essay that the girl was a high school student and was 10 years younger than him.

As per the report, in 2012, the director of ’ The Dream Scenario ’ was situated in Norway. At the time of writing, the director, nor his management and legal team have issued any official statements about the essay and the backlash that he has been receiving.
