New Delhi: Microsoft is gearing up to introduce its next-generation Xbox console in 2027. According to some reports, it has suggested that the development of Microsoft’s next Xbox console, which will use AMD chips, is progressing well to support an unveiling in 2027. Last year, Microsoft confirmed that it is working on a next-generation Xbox console in partnership with AMD, but it did not reveal any launch timeline. But by these latest reports, there are now high chances that Microsoft may unveil it next year itself. Microsoft is also signalling that its next-generation Xbox will blur the lines between a traditional console and PC, with the Xbox Ally device, which is positioned as an early step in that direction.
In the month of November, Microsoft introduced the Xbox Full Screen Experience for Windows 11 PCs and handheld gaming consoles, which we all know about. On the PCs, the Full Screen Experience Xbox enabled a controller-friendly interface that mirrors a console-style layout.
The company has also suggested that UI is designed for the controller-first navigation and offers a dedicated gaming-focused, full-screen environment for browsing and launching games. Now, for the mainstream consoles, the Xbox president described the next-generation console in the making as a premium, high-end platform built around a high-end curated experience.
These partnerships between Microsoft and AMD are jointly developing custom silicon for a range of devices, including the future of Xbox consoles, which are designed especially for both home and handheld use. The collaboration also expands to building the next generation of Xbox Cloud Gaming server infrastructure.
