Tamil Nadu Government Formation: Amid speculation of internal divisions on extending support to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Tamil Nadu, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Wednesday dismissed rumours of a split, asserting that the party remains united and any decision on extending support to TVK depends on actor-turned-politician Vijay.
While speaking to reporters, AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan said that there was a “unified consensus" within the party and stressed that the leadership would take a final call on any possible post-poll alliance.
“There is no split in AIADMK. Everybody is in common consensus. The ball is in Mr Vijay’s court. The majority decision will be taken by the high command. If he has to turn the dream into reality, it has to come from Mr Vijay’s side," Sathyan said as quoted by news agency ANI.

“The ball is in Mr Vijay’s court, and he has to take a conscious decision whether he wants to complete the 5-year term or try to do some exercises of taking many more parties into confidence. The Governor has asked for clarity on the number of MLAs in the TVK camp. Developments are happening," he added.
His remarks came after more than two-thirds of AIADMK MLAs gathered at the Chennai office of C V Shanmugam, urging party leadership to consider supporting TVK, which is currently short of a majority in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

Around 35 MLAs reportedly attended the meeting and are said to have requested AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami to explore an alliance with TVK. However, Sathyan maintained that no final decision has been taken and reiterated that the party high command would decide the course of action.
He also noted that TVK has not formally reached out to any party for support. “If they want stability, they should take a call. There is some momentum. We will wait and see," he added.
Meanwhile, TVK has stated that it has not held discussions with any party affiliated with the National Democratic Alliance.
Tamil Nadu Polls
Tamil Nadu has seen a major political shake-up, with neither of the traditional Dravidian parties emerging as the single largest party. In its debut election, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) won 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, while the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) secured 47 seats. The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) suffered a major setback, winning only 59 seats, with the remaining constituencies going to smaller parties including Congress and Left groups.
The TVK has already gained the backing of five Congress MLAs and is now reaching out to parties such as the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), along with others, in an effort to secure additional support and strengthen its position.
Vijay is likely to take the oath as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu at Chennai’s Nehru Stadium on May 7.
