Thieves try to loot police stn gear under cops' noses

New Delhi: They might have picked an easier job. But a pair of thieves decided to try their luck at Pandav Nagar Police station, no less, where they were caught red-handed, or battery-handed in this case, reports Abhay.On Feb 11, around 4.30pm, two "repairmen" turned up at the east Delhi police station and began tinkering with door frame metal detector (DFMD) equipment stored at the back. A woman constable, the station sentry, noticed them and alerted the head constable. They proceeded to the back and found the DFMD devices laid out on the ground, opened, and in the process of being dismantled. Batteries were missing from the units. Sumit (24) and Rajkumar (26) were unfazed. When the cops asked them what they were upto, they claimed to have been called to repair the units.
