What first appeared to be a localised “guess paper" leak in Rajasthan’s coaching hub of Sikar has now snowballed into a far bigger scandal that has placed an entire family with five medical admissions under the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) scanner in the NEET paper leak case.

At the centre of the probe is Dinesh Bival alias Dinesh Lambe, a resident of Jamwaramgarh near Jaipur, along with his brother Mangilal. Investigators probing the 2026 NEET paper leak now suspect that the brothers were not merely recipients of a leaked NEET paper, but part of a wider chain that may have helped multiple family members secure admissions into government medical colleges over two consecutive years.

The investigation first gathered pace after Rajasthan Police questioned Rakesh Mandwaria, who runs RK Consultancy in Sikar. Officials suspect the consultancy became one of the main circulation points for the alleged “guess paper" ahead of the NEET examination.

During questioning, Mandwaria allegedly told investigators that he had procured the paper from Dinesh and Mangilal for nearly Rs 15 lakh. The NEET paper then spread among students preparing in Sikar’s coaching ecosystem before eventually reaching a whistleblower, who alerted the National Testing Agency (NTA), triggering a wider probe.

The Family Under Scanner

Investigators soon turned their attention to the Bival family after discovering an unusual pattern: multiple members of the same household had cracked NEET and secured admissions into government medical colleges since 2025.

The CBI is now examining whether these admissions were genuine or linked to an organised paper leak network.

According to investigators, one of the key figures is Vikas, Mangilal’s son, who allegedly secured admission into an MBBS course in Sawai Madhopur last year using leaked exam material sourced through Yash Yadav, a Gurugram-based Ayurvedic medicine student.

Officials believe Vikas later became a middleman himself.

This year, investigators allege, Vikas once again contacted Yash Yadav to procure the leaked 2026 paper from Gurugram before passing it on to his father Mangilal and uncle Dinesh Lambe.

The paper eventually reached Rishi, Dinesh’s son, who had been preparing for NEET at a coaching institute in Sikar.

Investigators allege that Rishi not only used the paper himself but also circulated it among friends and coaching-linked contacts, allowing the material to spread rapidly through Sikar’s student network.

The ‘Five Doctors’ Mystery

What has particularly shocked investigators is the emergence of a possible 2025 connection.

CBI sources claim that at least five members of the extended family secured admissions into government medical colleges last year, including Vikas and three sisters from the family. Investigators are now reviewing records from 2025 to determine whether the same network and modus operandi were used earlier as well.

Sources said Dinesh Lambe had even publicly celebrated the family’s remarkable “success" on social media in November 2025, posts that are now being scrutinised as part of the investigation.

The Gurugram Link

Investigators believe Yash Yadav acted as the bridge between the family and the larger paper leak syndicate.

Yash and Vikas reportedly studied together at CLC Coaching Centre in Sikar. Though Yash himself failed to clear NEET, investigators suspect he maintained links with organised paper leak operators and facilitated access to question papers for money.

The CBI is now conducting face-to-face interrogations involving Yash Yadav, Dinesh and Mangilal to establish the exact chain of transactions and determine how far the network extended.

The 2026 NEET Paper Leak

On May 12, the National Testing Agency (NTA) officially cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination, affecting over 22.79 lakh medical aspirants across India. The cancellation followed a major investigation into a “guess paper" leak containing questions nearly identical to the final exam. The central government has handed the entire investigation over to the CBI to track down the multi-state leak network.

The NTA initially received a whistleblower’s alert on May 7, four days after the exam took place on May 3. Investigative agencies discovered a handwritten “guess paper" or question bank that was circulated extensively on encrypted messaging platforms before the exam.

A detailed review revealed an alarming compromise of the paper’s integrity. The circulated document contained roughly 410 questions. Over 100 questions, predominantly in the Chemistry and Biology sections, showed an unprecedented 95-100 per cent similarity to the actual NEET paper. Some estimates indicate leaked material accounted for up to 600 marks out of the total 720 marks.

The NTA will conduct a complete re-test for all candidates. The exact dates and re-issued admit card schedule will be announced soon on NTA’s official website.
