Three arrested for gangraping girl near Ranipet in Tamil Nadu

RANIPET: Police arrested three men on Monday on charges of gang raping a 19-year-old girl after assaulting her boyfriend and chasing him away near Ranipet.Police sources said the girl and her boyfriend were chatting in a govt-owned coconut grove near Ranipet on Monday when three men attacked her boyfriend and chased him away.

They dragged the girl to a secluded spot and took turns to rape her at knifepoint.Her boyfriend, who rushed to the village, alerted her parents, relatives and villagers. Her parents and others reached the spot and rescued her. They managed to trace the three men and handed them over to the police. The three men admitted to gang raping the teen girl.

Inquiries revealed that they were in an inebriated condition when they committed the crime. Inquiries also revealed that the three were repeat offenders, and they attempted to sexually assault a woman three days ago sexually.Police produced the three before a local court, which remanded them in judicial custody. The girl was admitted to a private hospital for medical examination and treatment.
