Three youngsters from Karnataka were washed away in the Tungabhadra river near Mantralayam on Saturday evening. According to police, seven youth aged 20-25 years from Hassan village in the neighbouring State came to the temple town of Mantralayam on the banks of the Tungabhadra to offer prayers at Sri Raghavendra Swamy temple. The youngsters entered the river to take a holy dip when three of them were swept away by the river current. Their friends alerted the police and local administration, who launched a search. The police along with revenue officials are searching for the missing trio, identified as Sachin, Ajith and Pramod, with the help of expert swimmers.
