Three people, including a nine-year-old girl, were killed when a speeding truck collided head-on with a passenger bus on NH-19 in Bihar's Kaimur district. The bus, carrying about 70 passengers, was en route from Jamshedpur to Varanasi. The crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday, leaving several others injured.
Sasaram: At least three people from Uttar Pradesh, including a nine-year-old girl, lost their lives and several others were injured early Sunday morning after a truck collided with a double-decker passenger bus on NH-19 near Nasej Gumti under the Kudra police station area in Bihar’s Kaimur district.The bus, carrying around 70 passengers, was on way to Varanasi from Jamshedpur. Police said the vehicle had halted briefly at a roadside dhaba for tea and had barely covered 50 metres when a truck coming from the opposite direction lost control, crossed the divider and crashed into the bus.The collision, which occurred around 4.30am, was so severe that the bus was extensively damaged, resulting in the death of three passengers on the spot.
The victims were identified as Vinay Kumar Singh (41) of Ambedkar Nagar district, Abha Rani (45) of Varanasi, and Dikshita Patel (9), also from Varanasi.Following the accident, the NHAI patrolling team reached the site and launched rescue operations in coordination with local police. The injured were administered first aid at the spot and later shifted for further treatment while the bodies were sent to Bhabhua for postmortem examination.Traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted but was restored after the damaged vehicles were removed with the help of a crane. Police have seized the truck involved in the accident. However, the driver fled.
