Three including shooter held in liquor contractor’s murder case by Ambala STF

AMBALA: The Ambala and Karnal units of Haryana Police’s special task force (STF) in joint operation arrested three accused persons including shooter in the recent case of liquor contractor’s murder in Shahabad-Markanda town of Kurukshetra district.The arrested accused have been identified as Sujal, accused main shooter of Khanpur in Karnal district, Baljinder Singh alias Mangu of Akalgarh village in Ambala district and Shubham Khurana of Mohalla Khatarwara, Shahabad Markanda, who conducted recce. Ambala STF DSP Aman said all three accused were produced before the court in Shahabad, which granted their six-day police remand for further investigation. The DSP added that so far no weapons used in crime were recovered from accused and the recovery would be made during remand.Liquor contractor, Shantanu of Mattan village in Jhajjar district was shot dead by firing multiple bullets, by two miscreants at Meena Market in Shahabad on June 13 evening. A case of murder was registered by Kurukshetra police under relevant Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act at Shahabad-Markanda police station on June 14. The STF DSP said all three were arrested on Wednesday in joint operation by STF Ambala and Karnal teams lead by inspector Parteek from Shahabad and Indri, adding that Baljinder and Shubham conducted recce of Shantanu’s movement and shared his location to the shooters.

“During remand, the actual motive behind Shantanu’s murder will be ascertained and it will also be known that they were working for which gang. Names of some persons lodged in jail have also come to light in this case, who would be soon arrested on production warrant for questioning. The jail inmates were helping the accused persons and were planning the crime in jail”, said DSP Aman.The DSP added that one accused Rajan of Janderi village has been arrested on production warrant from jail, in connection with this case and presently he is on remand as per court orders. Rajan is being questioned for further linkages inside and outside jail. He added that Shubham and Baljinder have criminal history related to cases of attempt to murder, Excise Act and others. He said Shubham alone has five criminal cases against him.
