Three killed in serial collision on Kalaburagi-Afzalpur highway

Three persons were killed, and three others sustained serious injuries in a serial accident involving two buses and a jeep near Hadagil Haruti Cross on the Kalaburagi-Afzalpur National Highway on Thursday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Sulochana, 70, Chandrakant, 82, and the jeep driver Mittesab, 35. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.

According to police sources, the couple from Telloni village in Afzalpur taluk was travelling to Kalaburagi city in a jeep when the vehicle, reportedly moving at high speed, first collided with an oncoming bus. Immediately after the initial impact, another bus coming from behind rammed the bus, resulting in a chain collision.

The driver of the jeep died on the spot, while the elderly couple succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital. Three others travelling in the jeep suffered serious injuries and are being treated.

City Police Commissioner Sharanappa S. Dhage inspected the accident site.
