A Bhadravati court convicted three women for immoral trafficking and sentenced them to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment, in addition to imposing a penalty on them.
The individuals convicted are Chandrakala, 31, Shilpa, 35, and Kavitha, 40, all from Bhadravati. IPS officer Jitendra Kumar Dayama, while he was the ASP in Shivamogga, conducted a raid on the house of the accused in December 2021 and arrested them.
The Paper Town Police in Bhadravati booked a case on charges of trafficking women for exploitation and forcing them into the flesh trade. Police Inspector E.O. Manjunath conducted the investigation and filed the charge sheet.
Indira Mailswamy Chettiyar, the Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge, heard the case and pronounced the judgement on February 2. She convicted the accused and sentenced them to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment, in addition to imposing a penalty of ₹1.61 lakh. P. Rathnamma, represented the prosecution.
