TMC MLA Madan Mitra was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata, officials said on Tuesday (May 12, 2026).
Mr. Mitra, who was elected to the Assembly from the Kamarhati seat in North 24 Parganas district, was admitted to Belle Vue Clinic on Monday (May 11, 2026) following urinary system complications, they said.

"He was brought in with certain urinary system issues and is currently under medical observation. His condition is stable, and he is responding well to treatment," a hospital official said.
Doctors attending the leader said he could be discharged within a day or two if his condition continues to improve.
A close aide of Mr. Mitra said he had been under physical and mental strain during and after the election.
"Doctors have advised complete rest for now. He is stable and recovering," the aide said.
Mr. Mitra, who was a Minister in the Mamata Banerjee government, defeated BJP's Arup Choudhury by a margin of 5,646 votes in Kamarhati in the recently-concluded Assembly polls.
